Dr. Alan J. Micev, MD, a Las Vegas native, dreamed from a young age of becoming a doctor. After earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from Washington University in St. Louis, he obtained his medical degree from Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. He completed a comprehensive Orthopaedic Surgery residency at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, developing a passion for hand and upper extremity surgery.
He further specialized through a fellowship in Hand, Upper Extremity, and Microsurgery at the Philadelphia Hand Center and Thomas Jefferson University. In 2016, Dr. Micev returned to Las Vegas and joined the Hand Center of Nevada to address the local need for specialized care.
Dr. Micev emphasizes holistic patient care, favoring minimally invasive treatments and considering personal interests and lifestyle in his treatment plans. He actively educates future doctors through workshops and lectures and participates in global medical missions providing complex hand surgeries.
Board-certified in Orthopaedic Surgery with a subspecialty in Hand/Upper Extremity Surgery, Dr. Micev also enjoys traveling and exploring new cultures in his spare time.

Dr. James Vahey, MD, an esteemed orthopaedic surgeon, combines a legacy of engineering and education with a remarkable medical career. Raised in the Midwest as the third of five children, Dr. Vahey excelled academically, graduating as valedictorian from Northwestern University. He earned his MD with honors from the University of Chicago’s Pritzker School of Medicine and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society.
He completed his general surgery and orthopaedic residency in Seattle, WA, followed by a fellowship in hand, microsurgery, and upper extremity surgery at the Indiana Hand Center under Dr. James Strickland. Since 1995, Dr. Vahey has been serving the Las Vegas and Henderson communities, co-founding the Hand Center of Nevada.
Board-certified with a Certificate of Added Qualification from the American Society for Surgery of the Hand (ASSH), Dr. Vahey is also a prolific author, speaker, and instructor. His patient-centered philosophy emphasizes personalized care and minimally invasive treatments.
Dedicated to worker’s compensation patients, he focuses on effective recovery and safe return to work for all hand, wrist, elbow, and upper arm ailments.

Dr. George S. Gluck, MD, is a Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon with specialized expertise in Hand/Upper Extremity surgery and Microsurgery. He earned his undergraduate degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where his research earned him the Johnson & Johnson national award. He then pursued his medical degree at New York University School of Medicine.
Dr. Gluck’s commitment to Orthopaedics was solidified during his residency at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill (UNC), where he cared for NCAA Division I and professional athletes and participated in medical missions to Nicaragua. He further refined his expertise through a fellowship at Wake Forest University’s Baptist Medical Center, focusing on advanced surgical techniques for the hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder.
Since 2012, Dr. Gluck has been an integral part of the Hand Center of Nevada. He serves as an Associate Clinical Instructor at University Medical Center and teaches at the Valley Healthcare System. He works closely with injured workers, accident victims, and high-level athletes, including performers from Cirque Du Soleil and other professional sports. Dr. Gluck is a prolific contributor to his field, with numerous publications and lectures to his name. He is an esteemed member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand (ASSH), the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), and the Nevada Orthopaedic Society (NVOS).

Dr. Maxwell Vest is a dedicated and skilled hand surgeon at the Hand Center of Nevada. Growing up in Southern Illinois, he was inspired by his father, an orthopedic surgeon, which led him to pursue a career in medicine. Dr. Vest graduated with High Distinction from the University of Illinois College of Medicine, where he was awarded the Howard S. Ducoff Award for his research on neuronal plasticity.
At the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Rockford, he placed in the top 3% of his class, earning the Junior Alpha Omega Alpha Award. His surgical expertise was developed through a six-year residency in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Nevada Las Vegas. He further specialized in hand surgery through a fellowship at Carilion Clinic in Roanoke, Virginia.
During his fellowship, Dr. Vest participated in a mission trip to Antigua, Guatemala, providing much-needed hand surgeries to underserved patients.
Outside of his professional life, Dr. Vest enjoys spending time with his wife and children, and participating in activities like hiking, fishing, and tennis. As the youngest member of the Hand Center of Nevada, he combines advanced skills and dedication to patient care to make a significant impact on his patients’ lives.
