Are you able to do a release on both wrists on the same day?

When clinically indicated, a patient can have ultrasound-guided carpal tunnel release performed on both wrists on the same day. There are several published manuscripts that include outcomes data on patients who had simultaneous bilateral releases.3,6,7,10

Postoperative therapy is typically not required.5

Many patients can tolerate immediate motion of their hand. Please consult with your treating physician for post procedure instructions.5

Dr. Stuart Patterson is a distinguished orthopaedic surgeon with specialization in adult and pediatric upper limb disorders, focusing on areas such as the elbow, wrist, and hand. His expertise covers microsurgery, peripheral nerve surgery, tendon and ligament injuries, as well as arthritic joint replacements and reconstructions of the elbow, wrist, and hand.

With a rich international background obtained from training and working across several continents, Dr. Patterson brings a wealth of knowledge to his practice. Starting his medical journey at the University of Cape Town in South Africa, he furthered his experience with diverse roles in England and Canada before returning to South Africa for rigorous surgical training.
